ASVT Licensure Requirements
As of March 1 2014, upon graduation from the Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology (ASVT) program, students must pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and apply to the California Veterinary Medical Board to receive a California veterinary technician license and thus become eligible for employment as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). The VTNE is given three times per year and is administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB).
